Hugo Spritz

The Hugo Spritz is bright, floral, and less bitter than an Aperol spritz. Prosecco, elderflower liqueur, mint, lime, and sparkling water make it easy to sip on a warm evening.

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces chilled Prosecco
  • ounces elderflower liqueur such as St-Germain
  • 1 ounce chilled club soda or sparkling water
  • ½ lime cut into wedges
  • 6 fresh mint leaves plus more for garnish
  • Ice
  • Optional: 1 to 2 thin cucumber slices

Instructions

  • Add the lime wedges and mint leaves to a large wine glass. Press gently with a muddler or the back of a spoon to release the lime juice and mint aroma.
  • Fill the glass generously with ice. Add the Prosecco, elderflower liqueur, and club soda.
  • Stir gently once or twice, then garnish with a mint sprig and cucumber slices if using. Serve immediately.

Make It Alcohol-Free

  • Replace the Prosecco with 3 ounces of chilled alcohol-free sparkling wine or extra sparkling water. Replace the elderflower liqueur with ½ ounce alcohol-free elderflower cordial or syrup. Keep the lime, mint, ice, and sparkling water the same.
  • The alcohol-free version still has the floral, bubbly feel of a Hugo Spritz without the alcohol.

Notes

With standard-strength Prosecco and elderflower liqueur, this recipe contains a little more than one US standard drink. Restaurant pours and stronger Prosecco can increase that amount.
